Network LAN file sharing continually disables, how do I fix this?

Hi! Me and my brother have been experiencing issues with LAN performance, and I cannot seem to figure out the problem. We like to game, and recently we have not been able to join each other over our local network connection. I can list every option I've tried: disconnecting and reconnecting to the wifi, updating the wifi settings, changing firewall settings to allow local file sharing, and to allow the desired apps through the firewall, then enabling the local file sharing service to run, I've run the sequence of commands found in the tech support article, "Fix Wi-Fi connection issues in Windows," I've reset my adapter in the troubleshooting center, I've set the network settings to "private network" to ensure that my computer would allow traffic through the LAN, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter in the device management app, and much, much more. I've employed every solution I could find and think of. One solution worked. This was to reset windows and to keep personal data so that the settings of the device could be reset to the factory default. However, after three days of great performance, we were once again unable to connect across a LAN game hosted on this device. It is a Lenovo LOQ series, the one with a Ryzen 7 processor (see all specs here. I couldn't get the files to upload. And this way I can easily retrieve requested information and add it to the document). If anyone is able to provide a solution as to maybe why the computer continues to block local access connections and file sharing seemingly on its own (I have not changed the network, adapter, or system settings prior to the issue), that would be great. Thanks!

I seem to have a similar problem. I'm trying to connect a Lenovo (Thinkpad M920Q) to other devices on the same network. I can only do a 'loop back' ping 172.0.0.1 but if I try to ping anything else on the network it fails (times out). I have rolled back to a restore point and it worked again but when reapplying a recent update it stopped working. At present I'm thinking it's something to do with a security/windows update, but can't be sure.

BTW the connection out to the internet is fine and I can also connect to other networks on a different subnet (192.168.100.XXX) , it's only the same subnet (192.168.1.XXX) that I'm having difficulty - really bizarre.

    Hello,

Please try the following methods on a computer that cannot see the share to see if the problem can be solved:

Since the following operations require modification of the registry, please proceed with caution after backing up the items that need to be modified.

    "Win+R">>Type: regedit

Expand the "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters]" items in turn.

Right-click the mouse in the blank space on the right and select the "New"-"DWORD Value (32-bit)" item from the right-click menu.

Then rename the newly created DWORD key to "AllowInsecureGuestAuth",

At the same time, change its value to "1" and click "OK" to complete the setting operation.

Note: 64-bit systems also need to add a 32-bit dword value.

Next, right-click the "Network" icon on the taskbar and select the "Open Network and Internet Settings" item from its right-click menu to enter.

    Click "Network and Sharing Center",

After opening, click the "Change advanced sharing settings" button in the upper left corner to expand the "Guest or Public" section.

Check the "Enable network discovery" and "Enable file and print sharing" items, and click the "Save Settings" button.

    Then start the "Server" service:

"Windows+R">>Type: services.msc to enter the "Services" interface.

Find the "Server" service, right-click and select the "Properties" item.

Set the "Startup type" to "Automatic" and click the "Start" button to start this service. Click "OK" to complete the setting.

After completion, restart the computer to see if the problem can be improved.

Hope the above information can help you.

    Best regards

    Zunhui
