Hi

I have a windows 2012r2 server.

Can i buy a Windows Server Standard 2019 - Base License (16-Core, DVD) - OEM and use it to upgrade from windows 2012r2?

I read this thread already https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowserver/forum/all/from-where-i-can-download-windows-server-2019/4369312f-3a7d-4969-95a6-69a3be982829 And I now I can download the trial. If i buy the dvd above which comes with a product key, I want to make sure I'll be able to use the key to activate it.

thanks

    Hello,

Yes, you can first download Server 2019 evaluation version and install it. After that, you can use the product key for Server 2019 to convert the evaluation version to full version:Upgrade and conversion options for Windows Server | Microsoft Learn

There is also another option, firstly you need to optain an Server 2019 ISO image and product key for server 2019, then do an in place upgrade on this 2012r2 server:

    Best regards,
