Some of the HP printers are not functioning properly from Windows Server 2016. When attempting to print content from Notepad, an error stating "the handle is invalid" is displayed. Additionally, when printing PDFs and other items, the status shows as printing, but there is no response from the printer. It's worth noting that when printing from Windows 10 or Windows 11, the system works fine.

    Hello Harshak T,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft customer support. I understand that you are experiencing issues with your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 127fn printer when printing from Windows Server 2016.

This issue may be caused by a compatibility issue between the printer driver and the operating system. To resolve this issue, I recommend that you download and install the latest printer driver from the HP website that is compatible with Windows Server 2016.

You can also try updating the firmware of the printer to the latest version. This can be done by visiting the HP website and downloading the firmware update for your printer model.

If the issue persists after updating the printer driver and firmware, you may need to contact HP support for further assistance.

I hope this information helps. Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Best regards,

    Bblythe Xiao

    Hello,

    Thanks for your response.

I've already attempted to update the driver and firmware of the printer. Are there any alternative solutions for this issue?

    Hello Mohd Al Qama IT,

If updating the printer driver and firmware did not resolve the issue, you may want to try some additional troubleshooting steps:

    1. Check the printer settings on the Windows Server 2016. Make sure that the correct printer driver is selected and that the printer is set as the default printer.
    2. Check the printer spooler service on the Windows Server 2016. Make sure that the service is running and that there are no pending print jobs in the queue.
    3. Try printing a test page or a different document to see if the issue is specific to Notepad or PDFs.
    4. Check the printer connectivity and network settings. Make sure that the printer is properly connected to the network and that the IP address and other settings are correct.
    5. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver on the Windows Server 2016.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may need to contact HP support for further assistance. They may be able to provide more advanced troubleshooting steps or help you identify any underlying issues that may be causing the problem.
