Microsoft not sending SMS code after locking my SSDs with bitlocker without my permission

Disclaimer for moderators: please do not send CTRL+C CTRL+V solution. Thanks for understanding.

I got a brand new laptop, an Acer Nitro 5. After powering up it for the first time, I registered it with my Microsoft account, the same account I'd been using for more than 10 years. The Acer laptop came with a SSD and I added another one. Then I tried to add another RAM stick. Now the nightmare begins.

It's known sometime is good to remove CMOS battery while changing RAM sticks. I did that and it somehow triggered this piece of **** called Bitlocker.

Now it doesn't let me access Windows or any data from both SSDs.

Okay, I go to aka.ms/myrecoverykey to get recovery keys, as Windows NEVER TOLD ME IT ENCRYPTED ANY OF MY STORAGE DEVICES, NEITHER OFFERED A WAY TO SAVE THESE KEYS!

Well then, I enter with my mail address, then with my mail password, then page asks me to confirm my number. Yeah, I know my number, and I type its last 4 digits AND MICROSOFT DOESN'T SEND ME THE SMS CODE!

WHAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH MICROSOFT?! BLOCKING ME FROM ACCESSING MY PERSONAL DATA BY ENCRYPTING IT WITHOUT A "HEY DUDE, CAN I DO THAT?"

I need help. Many and many important files are encrypted and Microsoft don't let me in. My wife is pissed as **** with md.

Help. I need help. I need help like I never needed before about computers.

Thanks in advance.

    Hello AdrianoAlmeida Andrade,

thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community Forums.

Firstly, on supported devices running Windows 10 or newer BitLocker will automatically be turned on the first time you sign into a personal Microsoft account (such as @outlook.com or @hotmail.com) or your work or school account.

As for the issue with not receiving the SMS code, there could be several reasons for this. It could be due to a delay in the SMS delivery, or it could be due to an issue with your mobile carrier. Although it has been out of my scope, there are some steps you can try:

    1. Make sure that your mobile number is correct and up to date in your Microsoft account.
    2. Check your spam or junk folder in your email to see if the SMS code email was filtered there.
    3. Try requesting the SMS code again after a few minutes.
    4. Contact your mobile carrier to ensure that there are no issues with receiving SMS messages.

    Regards,

    Lei
