    Hello

To upgrade your Windows Server 2012 R2 to 2019, you can follow these steps:

    1. Take a full backup of your server before proceeding with the upgrade process. You can use Windows Server Backup or any other backup tool of your choice.
    2. Download the Windows Server 2019 ISO file from the Microsoft website.
    3. Mount the ISO file on your remote computer and connect to the server through Remote Desktop Connection.
    4. Run the setup.exe file from the mounted ISO file and select the option to upgrade the existing installation.
    5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade process.
    6. After the upgrade is complete, verify that all your applications and services are working correctly.

Please note: Upgrading your server may take some time, and it is recommended to perform this process during a maintenance window to avoid any disruption to your business operations. Also, make sure to check the system requirements for Windows Server 2019 before proceeding with the upgrade.

Hi Hania, thanks for the response.

Our Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard is hosted on an AWS EC2 instance, which we are planning to upgrade via AMI image backup on AWS Management console, and an in place upgrade for windows server. During the process, while checking the server logs, I did notice several severe errors under Services on Local Servers and All servers. Rest all are just warnings**.** The sources of these errors are "Application Error, Schannel, and MSSQLSERVER. It just shows 3 warnings/severity under "Best Practices Analyzer".

Is it advisable to go ahead and proceed with the backup, upgrade and restore process without resolving these errors? if not, where exactly to find the tech support to get these resolved? Thanks.

    Best,

    Nikhil K.

It is not advisable to proceed with the backup, upgrade, and restore process without resolving these errors. These errors may cause issues during the upgrade process and may result in data loss or system instability.

Due to the complexity of your issue, technical support can be found under this link:
