Select User or Group not showing all Locations

We have a scheduled task to backup databases and move the backups to our server. The server is only accessible by accounts on the Domain.

However, we are unable to choose a Domain account to run the Task under in the Task Scheduler. It simply doesn't show up, only the local PC:

Is there any information or documentation on how to have additional Locations appear here in Select User or Group, so that we can choose one from the Domain?

    Hello,

It appears that this particular PC hasn't been joined to the domain yet?If it is a domain member, we would typically have the option to adjust the location to entire directory, rather than being restricted to just the local PC. I'm also curious whether this issue is exclusive to Task Scheduler or it is a widespread issue.

To further investigate this, you might want to launch the Local Users and Groups management tool (lusrmgr.msc). Try modifying the membership of any group and see if the "Entire Directory" option becomes available. Alternatively, you could conduct a similar test by attempting to change the ownership of a file or folder.

If the "Entire Directory" option does not show up in either scenario, it strongly suggests that the PC is not currently part of the domain, and addressing this will likely resolve the issue with selecting domain accounts in various applications, including the Task Scheduler.

    Best Regards,

    Karlie
