administration of email address and its Microsoft account

I am seeking assistance with an issue regarding my email account and Teams access associated with my domain. I am the owner of a domain and my email address as owner of a business, which is vital to my business operations.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, someone at the Department of Defense (DoD) set up this email account for a conference call within

Microsoft Teams. Since then, I have been unable to regain control over the administration of this account.

This situation has left me locked out of managing my domain's email addresses and Teams account, causing significant disruption to my business.

As the rightful owner of the domain, I must regain administrative access. The lack of control is very unsatisfying and severely impacts my ability to manage my business effectively. What can I do to solve this issue?

In this case, you should contact Microsoft Support and ask explain your issue and they would be able to look into your account and fix the issue. In case the issue is with Microsoft 365, have a look at Find Microsoft 365 for business support phone numbers by country or region - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn and you may find the phone number depending on your country there.

    Hi andrea_xyz_xyz,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community Forums.

    I. Confirming ownership of accounts and domains

    Collect evidence:

Prepare relevant evidence of your role as a domain owner, such as domain registration information, purchase vouchers, business registration documents, etc.

    Contact Microsoft Support:

Visit Microsoft's official support site and select the support option relevant to your issue.

Provide your domain name and email address detailing the problem you are experiencing and attach evidence of ownership.

    II. Restoring Email Account Control

    Verify Identity:

Upon Microsoft's request, provide the necessary authentication information to prove that you are the rightful owner of the email account.

    Reset Password and Restore Access:

Once the identity is verified, Microsoft will assist you in resetting the password for the email account and restoring full access to the account.

    Resolving Teams Access Issues

    Check Teams account association:

Log in to the recovered email account and check the Teams account associated with your domain.

If you find any unknown or unauthorized Teams account, contact Microsoft support team immediately.

    Restore Teams administrative privileges:

Follow Microsoft's instructions to restore your administrative rights to the Teams account associated with your domain.

If necessary, set up a new administrator account and assign the necessary permissions.

IV. Enhancing account and domain security

    Update passwords and security settings:

Update the passwords for your email account and Teams account as soon as you regain access.

Enable additional security settings such as dual authentication to improve account security.

    Monitor and prevent future risks:

Regularly check the activity logs of your email account and Teams account to identify and address any unusual behavior in a timely manner.

Stay in touch with Microsoft for the latest security recommendations and updates.

    Best regards

    Neuvi
