Dears,

I have Windows Server 2016 working as Remote Desktop and I’m going to purchase RDS Cal, but unfortunately the available version is Cal 2022.

My question is: can I install RDS Cal 2022 on RDS licensing Server on windows server 2016?

If the answer no, can I downgrade the cal license to 2016?

    Hello Ahmed,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to downgrade RDS CAL 2022 to 2016. RDS CALs are version-specific and cannot be downgraded to an earlier version. Additionally, RDS CAL 2022 is not compatible with Windows Server 2016. You will need to upgrade your server to a version that is compatible with RDS CAL 2022 or purchase RDS CAL 2016.

    Thanks,

We have exactly the same query at the moment, and are waiting for our supplier to confirm. However, I found this:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services/rds-client-access-license#rds-cal-version-compatibility

It looks like it should be fine.
