Setup a new server today and can't get past this 403 message. Any ideas?

    Hello,

First, ensure that the server has installed the latest updates since the version of Microsoft Edge may affect access to Windows Admin Center. Alternately, consider using Google Chrome as your web browser.

Additionally, here are some troubleshooting steps:

    1. On the server, open Task Manager > Services and make sure ServerManagementGateway / Windows Admin Center is running.

    1. Test the network connection to the Gateway. You can do this with the following line of PowerShell:

    Test-NetConnection  -Port  <port>  -ComputerName  <gateway>  -InformationLevel  Detailed

    1. Check the firewall settings on the server to ensure that the necessary ports are open for Windows Admin Center.
    2. Check the server logs for more details. Please enable Show Analytic and Debug Logs first.

If none of the above steps work, you can concern uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Admin Center. Please note that this will delete the connection list and settings for all Windows Admin Center users on the gateway.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards

I had some display issues on WAC - I did look at the event viewer diagnosed it.

    You could try https://127.0.0.1

I have some odd dns issues come into it.

Ultimately the fix was patching Windows Edge - it was interesting the evaluation edition of Windows Server has an edge version which isn't fully compatible.

    I download and installed MicrosoftEdgeEnterpriseX64.msi

    Download Edge for Business (microsoft.com)

If your environment is hardened have a look into winrm and WMI - potentially even Powershell as the backend of it uses powershell.

I ended up using the v2 preview of WAC v2311 with the HTML sign in page since this 403 issue was not solvable.

I now have the issue where extensions are not present. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowserver/forum/all/windows-admin-center-v2-no-extensions-available/f3f0912d-38f3-4310-a684-36a6b82e366a
