Printer Error - 0x00000002

We upgraded all of our computers to Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 3. All computers run Windows 11 Home. All computers have been able to successfully install and use the various printers, except one. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the printers, changed ports, changed IP addresses, and no luck. The computer let's us install the printers just fine, but then when you try and print we get this error: Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000002). The system cannot find the file specified.

The two printers in question are Canon C5250 and Canon C5500 - both which use the Canon Generic PCL6 Driver. These have successfully installed and function properly on all the other Windows devices, except this one Windows device.

The third printer, a really old Canon3235 installs and functions just fine from the device.

What am I missing here? The company that services the printers is at a loss, they cannot get it to work either. Again, it is just on this one device.

    Hello,

These issues may occur if a third-party printer driver or service affects the functionality of an existing or newly installed printer. To clear and reset the print spooler, follow these steps:

1.In the search box on the taskbar, type services, and then select Services in the list of results.

2.Select the Standards tab, and then double-click Print Spooler in the list of services.

3.Select Stop, and then select OK.

4.In the search box on the taskbar, enter %WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers, select %WINDIR%\system32\spool\PRINTERS in the list of results, and

then delete all files in the folder.

5.In the search box on the taskbar, search for services, and then select Services in the list of results.

6.Select the Standards tab, and the double-click Print Spooler in the list of services.

8.Select Start, select Automatic in the Startup Type box, and then select OK.

    Best regards

Thank you for this reply. Unfortunately it did not resolve the issue. The folder referenced in Step 4 was empty upon navigating to it. I still followed the other steps and tried multiple times, no luck. However, now when I attempt to print to the printer I just get a pop up that says "Unable to print" but no error code or anything like before. I have verified the settings and configuration with other devices and everything matches.

    Any other ideas?

    Hi Jared Lawrence,

Thank you for your reply. I suggest you try to uninstall and reinstall the printer. In addition, you can also refer to the following link for troubleshooting.

Thank you for the reply. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the printers multiple times, no change. We have fully removed drivers, removed the ports, etc. and done a full re-install and the same issue happens. The printer will print the test page and then nothing after that, and the errors begin. Do we need to consider doing a full re-format of the computer? Again, this is the only computer in the entire company that has this issue, yet all computers are using the exact same operating system, and no others have issues.
