Can we acquire a separate license to install Windows 10/11 Pro on a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) if we already have a Windows Server 2022 Datacenter License? This license allows unlimited Windows Server VMs and Windows Desktop machines without the need for additional License purchases.

    Hello Laukesh Thakkar,

thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community Forums.

With a Windows Server 2022 Datacenter License, you do have the right to run an unlimited number of Windows Server virtual machines (VMs) on properly licensed physical servers. However, for running Windows 10/11 Pro on a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), you would generally need additional licensing, because the licensing terms for desktop are different from those for server.

    Best regards,

    Lei
