    Hi Ben Mackey,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community Forums.

Below are some suggested solution steps which are based on common problems and solutions for Windows systems:

    Re-sign in to the account:

When a user encounters this type of issue, first try logging back into the device. This ensures that the account status is up-to-date and may resolve temporary synchronisation or configuration issues.

    Check for system updates:

Ensure that the Windows system has been updated to the latest version. System updates may contain fixes and improvements to Microsoft Hello and related features.

    Check group policy settings:

If the device is under the management of an organisation or school, it may be necessary to check group policy settings. Especially policies related to Microsoft Hello and PINs, make sure they are not misconfigured or disabled.

    Modify the registry:

In some cases, registry issues may cause the Microsoft Hello PIN to be unavailable. You can try to modify the registry by following the steps below (but please note that it is important to back up the current registry before modifying it to prevent improper modifications that may cause system problems):

Press the Win + R key combination to open the Run window.

Type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.

    Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System path.

Under the System key, create a new DWORD value called FilterAdministratorToken and set its key value to 1.

Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

    Reset the Microsoft Hello PIN:

If a user is still unable to log in with their PIN, they can attempt to reset their PIN.This can usually be done by following these steps:

    Select Password Login (if available).

Once on the desktop, open the Settings app.

Select the ‘Accounts’ option, and then select ‘Sign-in options’ in the left-hand menu.

In the Windows Hello PIN section, click the ‘Delete’ button and follow the prompts to re-add a new PIN.

    Check the account synchronisation settings:

If the user is using an organisational account that is synced with multiple devices or services, ensure that the sync settings are correct and that no other devices or services are interfering with the use of the PIN.

    Best regards

    Neuvi
