Hi:

I require an on-prem server for a lob application and would like to have it 'connected' to my Microsoft 365 infrastructure. It seems like Windows Server 2022 Essentials would be an ideal product but I would like see a demo of it somewhere. It is advertised as available only through HPE and Lenovo but when I contact them, they seem to be unaware or uninterested in the product though I see advertised for sale on CDW and other similar sites. Previous versions were available through many more distributors as well.

I note a lot of posts regarding Windows Server 2019; I thought this version was no longer supported as of January 1, 2024? Please enlighten me....

    Hello MDJ-YVR,

thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community Forums.

Windows Server 2022 Essentials is indeed a great product for on-premises server needs and can be connected to your Microsoft 365 infrastructure.

Windows Server 2022 Essentials edition is only available for purchase from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and only as a product key. When you receive the Essentials edition product key from the OEM, you use it to activate the Standard edition of Windows Server 2022. However, certain editions of Windows Server 2022, including the 2022 Essentials edition, may not be compatible with certain Windows Server 2022 Standard edition features, such as Remote Desktop Services (RDS). For more information, see Microsoft License Terms.

Regarding the lifecycle of Windows Server 2019, you can refer to the following image:

    Hope it helps.

    Kind regards,

    Lei
