Hyper-V Fails to create new Snapshots: Error: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process..

Hello,

We have been trying to troubleshoot this issue over the past year. We have Veeam that we are using to create automatic backups of our hyper-v vms. We'll get everything working (snapshots are working and veeam job triggers a successful backup (mutltiple times). After a couple of days, Veeam starts to fail and when we try to manually create the snapshot, we are getting the following error:

The host is Server Core 2022 with Hyper-V installed

Let me know further information that I can provide to help solve this issue

We need to figure out what is causing this but we are having issues doing so.

    Hi JJ,

    Hope you're doing well.

    1. Please check if there is any third-party anti-virus software exist. If so, please try to disable it and then try to backup again.
    2. You can use the Resource Monitor or Process Explorer to determine which process is locking the file.
    3. I think you might be backing up multiple servers in one backup job. Have you broken it out to individual jobs to fine tune where the problem might be?
    4. Check the task schedule for conflicts.
    5. If none of these steps work, you can contact Veeam support for further assistance.

    I hope this helps!

    Best Regards
