I work for a nonprofit. We have a volume license agreement with microsoft for Windows 10 Pro. We just purchased a laptop with Windows Home installed. I would like to use our volume license to upgrade. How do I do this? Thank you.
I ended up calling volume license support and they helped me get it upgraded.

Hi Caryle, can i ask how much it cost to get this sorted? I'm being told that to upgrade to Pro from home even for a non profit is circa £275?

There is no problem in upgrading if you have a volume licence which is academic or non-profit.
This doesn't work for a volume license. I ended up calling volume license and they had me upgrade with a temp key and then once the upgrade was complete, they had me enter the volume license key, which worked.

We did not have to pay extra $ to upgrade from home to pro since we had a volume license for pro. Here's what we did:
1. You will need to have your information from your volume licensing service center (although starting April 2023 this will be through Microsoft office 365)--go to the product keys section for Windows.
2. Call 1-800-642-7676 for assistance (better # is Volume license support #: 1-866-230-0560 option for technical support or installation support, NOT activation support)
3. The support rep will have you try your key, but it will not work.
4. They will have you disconnect from the internet and enter a new temporary support key (save this somewhere for yourself since it tends to work for a while so you avoid having to call them in future and can just do this process without needing to call).
5. It will start to install, and then give an error message (or it will just restart the computer itself and install the upgrade with no error message)
6. Support rep will have you restart the computer, at which point it will install the upgrade
7. Support rep will have you go back to settings to change the product key back to your volume license key, which will now miraculously work.
8. Then, reset (not restart, but reset) the computer so that it will start it's life over as a windows pro computer and prompt you to set it up from scratch.
