apim not reachable and app gateway failing to connect to backend pools

I have configured APIM with External mode.

Created custom domain.

Deployed keyvault with 3 certificates mapped to the custom domain.

Created public dns zone with cname record where alias is the url of the apim.

None of the urls of apim are being accessed from the browser publicly.
