Remote Desktop with Microsoft account (without password) keypass

2025-03-18T07:29:32.8533333+00:00

Hi, I'm having a problem with my remote desktop connection. When I try to connect, it says "Invalid password." My Microsoft account has KeyPass enabled, meaning passwordless access. How can I connect to a remote desktop with my Microsoft account? If I log in locally with Windows Hello (PIN), meaning without a password, on my computer?

Thank you very much,

Diego.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to Remote Desktop with Microsoft account (without password) keypass.

Open the Remote Desktop Connection app (mstsc.exe). Click on Show Options, then go to the Advanced tab. Check the box for Use a web account to sign in to the remote computer.

RDP does not support passwordless sign-in directly. You might need to temporarily set a password for your Microsoft account to use RDP. You can do this by going to your Microsoft account settings and adding a password.

Open Local Security Policy (secpol.msc).Navigating to Local Policies > Security Options. Finding the policy Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only and setting it to Disabled.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, you might need to temporarily revert to using a password for your Microsoft account when accessing Remote Desktop.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Molly
