This is a sorry excuse for customer support. Everyone is having trouble with this computer (ARM processor) connecting to printers and scanners. I had a Surface laptop with Windows 10 and had my Neat scanner connected with no issues... I bought a new Surface because Windows 10 was no longer going to be supported. I liked my old Surface so much I bought another one, wish i wouldn't have now... I figured the scanner technology was outdated so I bought a new scanner thinking it would be an easy peasy plug and play situation. I am very disappointed to report the new scanner would not be recognized either. It was a ScanSnap iX1300, when it would not install I called ScanSnap customer support and they said it was because of the new processor Microsoft is using (the Snapdragon) that I would have to purchase a scanner that has a display screen so I could connect it to the wifi and not use the USB.... I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this computer!!!
How to fix USB scanners not being recognized in Windows 11 24H2
After installing Windows 11 24H2 USB installed scanners are not recognized. Microsoft says the updates kb5043080 and kb5048667 fix the issue and have marked the issue as resolved. The issue remains and have not found a true solution to the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I work for the Education system for our district and this issue is affecting all of our schools.

2025-03-20T03:04:29.0533333+00:00 Hello Ronald Voncolln,
Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.
Here are some suggestions you can try:
- Ensure that all drivers, including scanner drivers, are up to date. Visit the scanner manufacturer's website to download the latest drivers and firmware updates.
- Uninstall the current scanner drivers from Device Manager. Disconnect the scanner, restart your computer, and then reinstall the drivers.
- Open Device Manager and check if the scanner is listed under Imaging devices. If the scanner is listed but not working, right-click on it, select Update driver, and choose Browse my computer for drivers. Then, select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer and choose the correct driver.
- Sometimes, switching the USB port can help. Try connecting the scanner to a different USB port on your computer.
- If your scanner supports network connections, try connecting it via LAN instead of USB. This can sometimes bypass the USB recognition issue.
- If the issue persists and you have the option, consider rolling back to Windows 11 23H2. This has resolved the issue for some users.
I hope the information above is helpful.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.
Best Regards,
Daisy Zhou
