Hello @Brendan Rempel ,
I Understand your unable to verify the .com domain but you are able to register .ca domain.
The reason can be once the verification process starts, Azure Email Communication Service attempts to read the TXT record from your custom domain. If Azure Email Communication Service fails to read the TXT record, it marks the verification status as failed. I want you to review the list of TXT records for your custom domain. If you don’t see your TXT record listed, Azure Email Communication Service can't verify the domain.
Follow the document to review the TXT Records for the .com domain: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/communication-services/concepts/email/email-domain-configuration-troubleshooting#1-unable-to-verify-custom-domain-status
Also, there are some common verification issues if you can't verify a custom domain name, try the following suggestions:
- Make sure the DNS record is correct.
- Make sure the domain name isn't already in use in another directory.
- Make sure you don't have any unmanaged Power BI tenants.
Follow the document for common verification issues: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/fundamentals/add-custom-domain#common-verification-issues
If the steps mentioned above don't work, there's a possibility that an old registration with the .com domain is conflicting, which was linked to your GoDaddy O365 account. If you're trying to use the same domain for verification, it is not possible because you cannot use a domain that was previously associated with your GoDaddy O365 account. To successfully verify your .com domain, you would need to delete the GoDaddy O365 domain.
Since you mentioned that you're unable to log into your GoDaddy O365 account, if you have any Global Administrator in that tenant, they can verify and check the domain. If it turns out to be the same domain causing the conflict, they can delete the domain for you.
Hope this helps. Let me know If you have any additional queries. Happy to assist you further.
