Hello,

I have a skype account (with the email I am now logged in this service) and also a Teams account with the same email.

I received a notification to migrate into Teams and there was an option to use Teams account or Skype account in this login procedure.

I selected Teams account and the application opened but it hasn't migrated my Skype contacts and conversations.

My Skype account is of great value, so if there is no option to merge the two, then I need my skype contacts. How can I bring those into Teams?

thank you in advance!

There's currently no supported way to automatically merge or transfer your personal Skype contacts and chat history into Teams. Here’s what you need to know and some options you can consider:

    1. Separation of Services:

     • Skype (the consumer version) and Teams are separate products. Although both may share the same Microsoft account and interoperate to some extent, Skype chats, contacts, and call histories aren’t automatically imported into the Teams interface.

     • The migration process invoked by Microsoft (often seen for organizations moving from Skype for Business to Teams) doesn’t apply to personal Skype accounts.

    1. What Happens Upon Migration:

     • When you selected the Teams account during the migration process, Teams was opened but did not include your existing Skype contacts and conversations because that data remains in your Skype account.

     • Your Teams environment is set up independently, and Microsoft has not built an automatic “merge my Skype account into Teams” feature for personal use.

If you want Skype contacts and chat history to be migrated to Teams, then you should select the Skype account in the login procedure.

Perhaps, the easiest way for you will be to install Skype Preview version on your computer using this installer link:

    https://download.skype.com/s4l/download/win/Skype-8.138.76.214.exe

Skype preview version has now a banner at the top with the "Start using Teams" button. Pressing this button will initiate migration of your chat history to Teams.
