ttf delete

Question

Version: Windows Server 2022 Standard

I have a Roboto-Medium.ttf font file on my desktop

When I double-click it, it will show: "The requested file xxx\xxx\Roboto-Medium.ttf is not a valid font file"

After that, when I right-clicked and deleted it, it showed: "Another application has this file open, so the action cannot be completed. Please close the file and try again."

I then searched C:\WINDOWS\Fonts and found no such font.

I didn't see any information about this font being enabled in the Resource Monitor and Task Manager, and I also saw many people saying that it was enabled in the Preview or Font Viewer, but it was not found at all.

I want to ask two questions:

1. How to delete it (without rebooting)
2. I double-clicked the ttf file, what happened? Why did the system hold on to the font file?

I suggest you follow the steps below to remove the font:

Open Regedit.exe and go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts

In the right pane, delete the Roboto Black font entry.

Restart Windows.

This uninstalls the font from the system. You should be able to delete the corresponding TTF from the Fonts folder.

Note If you modify the registry incorrectly, you can cause serious problems. Therefore, follow these steps carefully. For additional protection, back up the registry before you modify it.
