To whoever at Microsoft QA actually cares enough to read this – and please, if you’re about to respond with some generic, soulless boilerplate garbage that your system spits out by default, do us both a favor and don’t bother.
Let me break this down: Microsoft decided, seemingly on a whim, to block my account due to what it assumes was “unusual activity.” No warning, no real explanation, no transparency. Just a lockout.
I’ve tried every godforsaken method your recovery system has to offer, and unsurprisingly, none of them work. First, your useless text-based recovery fails immediately, forcing me into that idiotic form submission. That form? A joke. It asks utterly irrelevant questions like where I created my account (newsflash: I use a VPN, so good luck with that), and for details of my last three emails – which, surprise, I can’t provide because I never used Outlook or Hotmail for actual emailing. Why? Because even from the beginning, I had zero faith in Microsoft’s ability to do anything right.
The form has no option to say “I have never sent an email,” and leaving it blank results in rejection. If I check the box just to proceed, I get the same “not enough info” trash response. It’s a Kafkaesque loop of pure incompetence.
Then comes the masterpiece: your Skype verification. You want me to ask people I contacted years ago for their usernames? And somehow also provide mine, even though your own system randomly generates either a cryptic hash or just uses my email? It’s like this whole process was designed by someone who actively hates users.
Here’s a nice ironic twist: your system lets me change the password via SMS on this blocked account. It accepts the change. But I still can’t recover the account because, apparently, Microsoft can’t be bothered to actually tie the systems together. Incredible.
Want another kick in the face? I have my photo on the account. Meta, of all companies, does a better job than you—just upload a photo with a handwritten note and boom, identity verified. But Microsoft? Nothing. No upload option, no fallback, just this black hole of bureaucratic idiocy.
And God forbid I try to speak to a human. Contacting actual support is like trying to summon a ghost. After endless loops, I finally found a chat option—which dumps me into a broken page with an infinite loading screen. I sat there like a fool, watching nothing happen, because that's how little your infrastructure respects its users.
At this point, I honestly don’t give a damn about the account itself. You can keep it. My Windows settings, my config, my data—consider it all trash now. What actually matters to me is a third-party app I foolishly connected to this account. That was the real mistake, the one I’ll regret permanently.
I don’t know if this will reach anyone capable of actually helping, or if you’ll just bury it like every other complaint. But at least someone will know that the clowns responsible for this account recovery flow did a phenomenal job at making it the most user-hostile system I’ve ever encountered.
No, I’m not sorry for the tone. I’m not sorry for the language. I’m furious—and you’ve earned every word.
