How to recover my hotmail account if I deleted authenticator on my old iphone

I had access to my hotmail account, unfortunately I had to switch phones and accidentally delete everything on my old phone, which it had my Authenticator.
I have a back up email that I can use for getting codes to log back in, but when i try to change my password, when prompted, it says that my session has expired and cannot change password even though I only take 15 seconds to type in the new password.
I'm not sure why it says that the session has expired, also tried other ways to go around it but I haven't succeeded.
