Where is the QR Code scanning ability in MS Authenticator, on Android Google Play, as of 20210108 ?
All other popular authenticators do not present this awkwardness.
MS, please test asap. Not really my responsibility to handle this.
Will continue with other authenticators, that work just find and actually scan QR codes secrets.
Beyond that, the interface of the app is horrible. Is something missing in this latest build?
The issue in my case that I have just discovered is that upon installation of MS Authenticator, there is a prompt requesting access to the phone's camera. This prompt was not presented upon my first installation of MS Authenticator. After uninstall and reinstall the prompt for access was presented and all is working fine now. Perhaps this prompt does not always appear and that leads to these first impressions.

Bump on this. It assisted me in solving the issue on iOS as well. Doing a camera permission check and displaying a prompt might be a better UX than just resorting to the code/URL fields.

Re-install didn't work for me in iOS. On reinstall from App Store, camera requests opened up, but MS Authenticator wasn't a choice.
This is an app error.
(And btw, signing in and authentication rigamarole was needed just to report this! Irony.)
I cannot find option within the Microsoft Authenticator app that allows you to scan QR codes. Help me find the option or alternative way to address this issue
When the User attempts to authenticate the following steps occur
· User is prompted to download and install the Microsoft Authenticator App The User already has Microsoft Authenticator app installed on phone. User clicks Next
· User is prompted to Add account The User already has the applicable account setup and visible from within Authenticator app. User clicks Next
· User is prompted to Scan the QR Code specifically the text at this step reads: "Use the Microsoft Authenticator app to scan the QR code...." THE QUESTION: HOW? Please provide step by step detail advising HOW do you use the Microsoft Authenticator app to scan the QR Code. The User is looking at a screen that contains the valid and applicable User tenant and User account on the Microsoft Authenticator home page. The set up for camera permissions and enabled notifications is complete, responsive and valid as required. The User is unable to identify a menu, settings or any option at this step in the process of authentication to use the Microsoft Authenticator app to scan the QR Code.
Please ensure you understand this specific scenario before answering.

The QR scan codes are generally provided by the application that you're setting up. In fact I just setup a new android phone today and scanned a code to setup with an O365 account.
