How do I stop Microsoft Copilot hijacking my browser?

A tab has been spontaneously opening to "microsoft365.com/auth=2" in my browser. It happens for no discernible reason, whether or not I am using MS365 programs, occasionally when I am not even at my computer.

I am on an HP laptop running Windows 10 Home, my browser is Firefox (137.0.1 64-bit). I have checked for add-ons and registry edits that could have caused this problem. When I have searched online, I can only find results about issues with documents opening in browser.

I have absolutely no interest in using this "feature" and am alarmed at this hijacking behavior. Short of completely uninstalling MS365, how do I stop this from happening?

I think that tab isn’t copilot but windows’ acct‑broker firing when an old m365 token dies…just remove that stale work acct once in settings→accounts→access work or school. If it still loops, set web account manager (tokenbroker) to manual in services.msc, that’s the last place it hides.
