Is this email "from" Microsoft requesting payment via wire real?

Hello Favio,

Thank you for reaching out. I hope this email finds you well, and I apologize for the delay in response, as I was out of the office yesterday.

Regarding your inquiry, as previously mentioned to Brett, the removal of the owner user has resulted in the billing account being in "Orphan" status. Unfortunately, this means the account's billing details, including payment method management, cannot be accessed or updated. Consequently, the pending invoices can only be settled via wire transfer.

Additionally, I would like to remind you that the subscription linked to this account has been suspended since January. As part of Microsoft’s retention policy, data is typically retained for approximately 90 days before being permanently deleted. While we are committed to supporting you in this matter, the reactivation of the subscription hinges on settling the outstanding payments.

Given the approaching retention period limit, there is a possibility that the subscription cannot be restored. However, if you can provide an estimated date for sending the payment, we will do our best to assist you further and request an exception to the policy.

Please let us know how you would like to proceed. Should you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out.

Warm regards,

    Hi,

In this instance I will suggest to request a callback on the Billing Owner details from Microsoft and verify the pending invoice if there are any. The billing team usually follow up with the detailed information on the subscription details etc.

I see there is a tracking number and you can call up Microsoft Support to verify this ID and credibility of this mail, do not pay directly without any verification and clarification. Validate the billing invoice with the Subscription and resources deployed costs.

Please contact billing team - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-portal/supportability/how-to-create-azure-support-request#go-to-help--support-from-the-global-header

    Hope this helps.
