Enabling Touch Input on BitLocker PIN Entry Screen for Windows Tablets

I need assistance with enabling touch screen support along with an on-screen keyboard on the BitLocker unlock screen on Windows tablets. Despite my attempts, the touch screen remains unresponsive in the BitLocker pre-boot environment.

What I've tried so far:

1. Added touch screen drivers to WinRE image: Used DISM to mount and modify the winre.wim image. Added Goodix Touch Driver (GoodixTouchDriver) and HID Event Filter (HidEventFilter) drivers to the image. These drivers work properly in the main Windows environment
2. Modified registry settings: Set the "Start" value to 0x00000000 (autoload) for the following services in both the main system registry and the WinRE registry:
   HidUsb HidEventFilter GoodixTouchDriver This was done under the \ControlSet001\Services\ registry path for each service
3. Enabled Group Policy setting: Turned on "Enable use of BitLocker authentication requiring preboot keyboard input on slates" in Group Policy Editor. Ran gpupdate /force to ensure the policy was applied

Despite these steps, the touch screen still does not respond on the BitLocker unlock screen, making it impossible to enter the PIN on tablets without a physical keyboard.

Has anyone successfully configured touch input for BitLocker pre-boot authentication? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Touch-based BitLocker PIN works on Windows tablets only if the hardware and UEFI firmware support it.

You can check your tablet model and ensure the UEFI firmware is up to date.
