It sometimes happens that when you open MS Outlook it does not start and “attempt to log on to Microsoft Exchange has failed” error comes. There are various ways by which you can start Outlook and fix this error. Those are as follows:
- Repair Office Installation: You may not open Outlook due to corrupt office installation. Repairing it will solve the problem and you will be able to open Outlook
- Update MS Outlook: Updating MS Outlook can fix this problem.
- Create a new Outlook Profile: Creating a new Outlook profile (though not recommended) can fix this error. However, if circumstance come that you have to create new Outlook profile then you can convert your inaccessible old OST file to PST file using a third party tool and export it to the new account that you have created
- Recreate OST file: Your OST file can get damaged due to sudden power failure or due to abrupt closing of Outlook. This can cause your OST file to not connect to the PST file creating this error. To recreate OST file jut change the location of your OST file or delete it. Outlook generally creates new OST file when it doesn’t find one .
- Turning off cache exchange: Try limiting the time of the cache files that are created due to the cache exchange mode. Reducing it to say 3 months to 6 months can fix this error and you can start Outlook again. So, these are some of the ways by which you can fix this error and start Outlook again.
