how to fix hid compliant touch screen not working

About 3 weeks ago my Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series touch screen stopped working. I reviewed online help which said to do several things.

  1. I updated all windows updates including optional updates.
  2. I updated everything from the Dell Website. After updates it still didn't fix the problem.
  3. I next followed instructions to disable the HID Compliant Touch Screen driver in Device Manager and then enable it. I did that and the touch screen was restored instantly.
  4. The next day when I turned on the laptop, the Touch Screen had stopped working again so I repeated the Device Manager steps of disabling/enabling the HID Compliant Touch screen driver but this time no change to the touch screen.

    Is your product under warranty? If the answer is yes; You can call Dell Service and get information about the problem.

    If the answer is no; Check your computer model from the Dell support page. After finding it, enter the manual guide page. Please review the problem/solution articles about the screen in this area.

    Finally; You can use the Dell diagnostic software (Support assist). Or there is definitely a diagnostic feature at startup, you can test it from there. If it is faulty, the software will tell you anyway.
