Upgrade Purview

I've created a new azure subscription using a business domain account I've created. I set up and installed free version of Purview, however when I open the new Purview portal, I was expecting to see the upgrade option under settings, but this is still not available. So, I can't see the new Unified catalogue. I've tried deleting my free Purview resource in azure subscription & then opening the new purview portal, this makes no difference. I think the issue may be to do with my Azure subscription. Any suggestions anyone?

    @Andrew Richardson

    It sounds like you’re having some trouble finding the upgrade option for Microsoft Purview after setting up a new Azure subscription. Here’s what you can check out:

    Check the Subscription Type: First, ensure that your Azure subscription is not affecting your ability to upgrade. Sometimes, certain subscription types or configurations may restrict upgrades.

    Location of Upgrade Option: To upgrade from the free version to the enterprise version, follow these steps:

    • Open the Microsoft Purview portal.
    • Look for the upgrade button in the ribbon menu, or go to Settings, then View all settings and select Upgrade.

    Registration of Resource Providers: Ensure that the necessary resource providers are registered in your Azure account:

    • Microsoft.Purview
    • Microsoft.Storage
    • Microsoft.EventHub If any of these are unregistered, that could be preventing the upgrade option from appearing.

    Region and Account Setup: Confirm that your Purview account is set up in the correct region. If there’s a mismatch between your account and the Azure tenant, this could also cause issues.

    User Permissions: Make sure you have the required permissions to initiate the upgrade. If you’re not a Purview Admin, the upgrade option might not be visible to you.

    If you've checked all the above and still don't see the upgrade option, please let me know if you can provide more specific details:

    • What type of Azure subscription are you using?
    • Are there any error messages appearing when you try to find the upgrade option?
    • Have you verified that the necessary resource providers are registered?
    • Is your account in the expected region?

    Hope this helps you get that upgrade sorted!
