No alert received on VM performance degrade, but live migration triggered and completed

Hi All,

We have not received any VM performance degrade alerts under "Resource health", But the live migration is triggered and completed.

How can a live migration be initiated without performance degrade on the host ?

Azure Resource Health keeps you informed about the current and historical health status of your Azure resources. These alerts can notify you when these resources have a change in their health status.

Live migration is a Hyper-V feature in Windows Server. It allows you to transparently move running Virtual Machines from one Hyper-V host to another without perceived downtime. Hence, you have not received alert for this. Live migration can be triggered for multiple reasons other than performance degrade. It could have done by authorized user as well. Also, it is essential to enable service health alerts as well for personalized view of the health of the resources, active events and any upcoming maintenance that can impact your resources in the subscription and we can configure additional alert to be notified in specific scenarios for e.g. if we want to get notified via email for planned maintenance.

The response i get is for windows VM's is the same for Linux VM's as well? Recently our Azure Linux VM's were live migrated without any performance degradation notification.

The Azure performs live migration to seamlessly move virtual machines between physical hosts without requiring a reboot.

Live migration is triggered by various scenarios such as planned maintenance, hardware failure prevention, and resource optimization. It helps maintain performance and stability without requiring user intervention.

Azure’s predictive technology detects potential hardware failures and proactively migrates VMs before issues occur. This prevents downtime and ensures smooth operation

Since live migration happens seamlessly, users do not receive performance degradation alerts in Resource Health. To track migrations, customers can check Scheduled Events, Service Health logs, or the Monitor section in the Azure portal
