how to switch business gmail to microsoft 365

I want to switch my gmail business account ******@storhouse.ca to a paid business outlook/microsoft 365 business basic account, however, it is blocking me from setting it up, the message is saying domain is taken, however storhouse.ca I own the domain name.

    You need to first register your domain ownership in the domains section in M365 admin portal. You will be asked to proof your ownership by adding a provided A record on your domain DNS server
