How do I renew a domain purchased in Azure?

I'm trying to renew a domain on App Service Domain on Azure, but all the options are disabled as I've missed the window (Manual domain renewal can only be performed up to 90 days ahead of domain expiration and up to 18 days after domain expiration. You can enable domain auto-renewal policy to reduce the management overhead of this operations.). How long do I need to wait for the domain to be released, or can i release it since I own it?

To renew a domain purchased in Azure, you can either enable automatic renewal or manually renew it within specific timeframes. Since all options are currently disabled, it seems you missed the manual renewal window, which is available from 90 days before expiration up to 18 days after expiration.

If you cannot renew the domain, you will need to wait for it to be released. Typically, if a domain is not renewed, it may enter a grace period before being released back to the public for registration. The exact duration of this grace period can vary, and you may not be able to release it yourself since you still own it during this time.

If your domain was deleted fewer than seven days ago, you can repurchase the same domain under the same subscription without being charged again.

Thanks for your Update.
If auto-renew is enabled for an App Service domain, it will be renewed automatically on the day after expiration. This is expected behavior and does not affect domain functionality. Exception: For .nl domains, renewal must occur before expiration, otherwise the domain enters the redemption phase immediately and cannot be auto-renewed.

If a customer is concerned about expiration and auto-renew is enabled, we can reassure them that the domain will be automatically renewed the following day.

App Service Domain Renewal After Expiration If the domain expired and auto-renewal was not enabled, here is what happens next (excluding .nl domains, which go directly to redemption after expiration):

Day 1–5: No service impact. Domain is still active.

Day 5: DNS records are removed; domain is redirected to a GoDaddy parked page.

Days 6–18: Customer can still renew the domain directly in the Azure Portal.
