payment method of an old Azure subscription that I no longer have access has been updated to someone else's bank info in last 1 or 2 month

but azure keep trying to charge me on old payment method and it fails when it was not able to collect money from my bank.

"Action Required" the email says "Your payment is past due—pay now to keep building in Azure"

Any action I need to take? Or it will then try to charge with the latest payment method automatically?

The new owner has been informed but we do not know what is the action item for the new owner assuming the Azure will charge by the payment method itself unless it doesn't...?

    Hi David
Azure won't automatically use a newly added payment method, even if it's linked to the subscription's billing profile. It will keep charging the current default payment method until you manually set the new one as default.
Please follow below steps to add new payment method:

    1. Go to Cost Management + Billing
    2. Navigate to "Payment methods" under the appropriate billing profile.
    3. Make sure the new payment method is:
      • Added to the correct billing profile.
      • Set as the default for the billing profile/subscription.

If you are receiving emails about a past-due payment for an old Azure subscription that you no longer have access to, it is important to take action to resolve the issue. Azure will not automatically charge the new payment method unless it is associated with the subscription. Since the payment method is still linked to your old account, you should inform the new owner that they need to settle any outstanding charges in the Azure portal.

The new owner can log in to the Azure portal using their account and check for any outstanding balances. They will need to pay the entire outstanding balance if there are multiple subscriptions linked to the same payment method. If the payment method is not updated in the Azure account, the charges will continue to fail, leading to further notifications.

It is advisable for the new owner to check the payment methods associated with the subscription and update them accordingly to avoid future issues.
