SharePoint Document Set's Default file creation stop on error: "User has modified file"

I have configured default files inside every folder in a Document Set. Document Set has worked fine until today when it produces error when creating one in a Library:

Sorry something went wrong:

"The file Documents/xxxxxxxxxxxx.docx has been modified by USER-XX on 12 Jan 2021 05:22:10 -0800."

USER-XX is me who is trying to create the Docset. It's a crazy notification since of course it's me who has modified (created) the file during the creation. The process stops to the first default file and none of the next folders nor files are created.

Figured out how to fix the issue on my site so hopefully this works for you to, was a nightmare to figure out. You have to disable all shared columns under default content between the document set and the files within and it should work. Not an ideal fix but best I have gotten so far. Good luck, hoping it works for all of you to.

    Hi anonymous user,

Per my test, I cannot reproduce your issue.

Generally, once the default file is uploaded successfully in Document Set, it cannot be modified again.

Please click the Document Set settings> Delete the corrupt default document >add the file again then compare the result.

    We are facing same/similar issue.

Looks like the issue happens intermittently when document set has multiple default content.

Documents are not corrupted and has valid content.

We have some custom provider-hosted solutions which also can create a new document set or to upload new documents inside document set and starting from 01-12 we randomly are getting the "The file xxxx has been modified by user on ....." error.

Indeed, this error screenshot is the very same I'm getting.

It's frustrating since everything should be ok and it has worked until now.
