Unable to Create SQL Server with High Availability from Azure Marketplace – VM Creation Fails Silently

We are encountering an issue when trying to create a SQL Server with high availability from the Azure Marketplace. After filling out the required configurations and clicking the "Create" button, the deployment does not proceed — there are no error messages or notifications, and the virtual machine is not launched.

Additional details:

The "Create" button becomes unclickable after it's clicked.

No progress is shown in the Azure portal.

We've tried this multiple times with the same result.

Has anyone experienced this issue or is there a known workaround or fix? Any help from Microsoft support or the community would be appreciated.

    Hello Audit

Initially, you were unable to create the Azure SQL VM Availability Group using the Azure Portal.

A bug in the Azure Portal blocked deployment. As a workaround, please skip the [run validation], instead execute the script (via Download prerequisites check script) manually in any of the domain joined VMs and proceed with the deployment.

The SQL VM Product Group are working on a permanent fix for the issue.

I hope this has been helpful!

Big thanks to @Saraswathi Devadula from Microsoft Support for sticking with us and helping resolve our SQL Server deployment issue from the Azure Marketplace. The problem was caused by selecting the validation checkbox during creation — unchecking it allowed the deployment to proceed. Appreciate her patience and support throughout!

Is there any update on the Product Group's progress on resolving this issue? I've run into it today.

I was experiencing the same problem. I refreshed, and tried skipping the virtual machine name, confirmation checkbox, and run validation options altogether in the prerequisites validation tab. It still froze up when I clicked create, no portal notifications appeared, and the option to download a template for automation did nothing.

I was finally able to get this to deploy by, when getting to the 'prerequisites validation' section:

    (1) Skipping the 'virtual machine name' dropdown - just leave it blank

    (2) Skipping 'run validation' - do not press

    (3) Checking, yes checking, the 'confirmation' checkbox - which I know is the opposite of the recommendation above but that's what allowed it to finally deploy without freezing up.
