Intuned HP laptop failing on Windows 11 updates
Of a fleet of circa ~ 300 HP devices that are Intune enrolled, I have one 2 month old HP Elitebook 840 G11 laptop, that is failing on the Windows updates.
The laptop appears to install the updates, then will sit there all night long with a max'd CPU as the device is quite warm to touch next morning, and the screen is blank. ( the updates are requested to install end of work day / overnight )
Upon force restarting the laptop, it gives a blue screen - a blank blue screen, then presents the Bitlocker Key required screen when restarted.
Looking through some event logs, it appears that the device is waiting for a reboot that never occurs - it is possible that the laptop does not auto-restart, even though the user selects "Install and restart " ?
This laptop has had Windows 11 24H2 installed via USB 3 times now - all for the same issue where Windows Updates have failed / gets stuck in the same fashion.
I called HP Support for this - thinking potentially this is a hardware / firmware issue - they were very quick to push back and say this was a Microsoft Intune config issue and not an HP issue.
So now I find myself at an impasse as to how to resolve this issue.
I would love some input as to how to resolve this issue with this one HP device failing on Win updates please.
Kind regards,
James D
