I never received a confirmation email with my product keys for my Windows 11 purchase. How do I get my product keys? Can a new email be generated? I bought 2 copies of Windows 11 for the computers my sons just built. I downloaded the media creation tool and created bootable USB drives for them. My order history shows that my purchase has a status of "completed."

    Hi Paul Cameron,

    If you purchased Windows 11 directly from Microsoft but never received the confirmation email with your product keys, here's how to resolve this based on your situation:

    1. Check Your Microsoft Account Order History

    • Sign in to your Microsoft Account Order History with the same account used for purchase.
      • Locate the "Completed" order for Windows 11. If purchased from Microsoft, the product keys should be displayed here under "Product Key" or "Digital Content" .
      • If keys aren't visible, select "View Order Details" for an option to reveal or copy the keys.

    2. Verify Email Delivery Issues

    • Check spam/junk folders: The confirmation email might have been filtered out.
      • Confirm email address: Ensure the purchase email matches your Microsoft account email. Typos during checkout can cause delivery failures .
      • Retry email generation: Some users report success by clicking "Resend confirmation" in Order History .

    3. Contact Microsoft Support

    If keys are missing in Order History:

    • Use the Microsoft Support Contact Portal or request a callback.
      • Provide your order number and purchase confirmation. They can resend keys or troubleshoot delivery issues .

    4. Important Notes for Installation

    • Digital licenses vs. product keys: If bought from Microsoft Store, your license may be a "digital license" tied to your Microsoft account. During Windows setup:
      • Skip entering a product key initially.
      • After installation, go to Settings > System > Activation > Troubleshoot and sign in to your Microsoft account to activate automatically .
    • Retail vs. OEM licenses: Retail licenses (like yours) allow transfer to new devices, while OEM licenses don’t. Ensure you selected "Retail" during purchase .

    5. Alternative Solutions

    • If immediate activation is needed and keys are unavailable, install Windows 11 without a key (select "I don’t have a product key"). Later, activate via Settings > Activation by signing in or using the Troubleshooter .
      • For future purchases, note that Microsoft emails often omit keys for upgrades/digital licenses, relying on account-linked activation instead .

    Summary of Steps:

    graph TD

        A[Check Microsoft Order History] -->|Keys visible| B(Copy keys for installation)

        A -->|Keys missing| C[Contact Microsoft Support]

        C --> D{Support verifies purchase}

        D -->|Resolved| E[Keys resent or digital license activated]

        D -->|Unresolved| F[Escalate to billing team]

    Most users resolve this by retrieving keys directly from their Microsoft account . If your Order History shows no keys, support can typically regenerate them instantly. For immediate installation, proceed without a key and activate post-setup via your Microsoft account .
