Using Excel 365 when I click on "Analyzed Data," the Analyzed Data window opens but remains gray. This is a known problem, but none of the online solutions I'm using Win 11, 64-bit, Office 365

I've tried:

Selecting a cell, selecting a range of data with the mouse and with Ctrl-A, and turning a range into a table.

Restarting Windows

Using different workbooks

Using a blank workbook

Quick and Online repair of Office 365

Reinstalled Office 365

Creating and using a new login admin account

Repairing windows with the Fortect software

Tried to run in safe mode, but Office 365 won't run in safe mode without internet.

Help!

Sincerely,

Bob Butler

    Hi @RGButler

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum. To help me better understand the issue, could you please provide a screenshot of the error message you are encountering?

If you are currently using the desktop app, could you please check if you experience the same issue on the desktop app?

However, I have a quick clarifying question about the 'new login admin account' you created. When you refer to the 'admin account,' are you talking about a local Windows administrator account, or a Microsoft 365 Global Administrator account

Before you provide more infomation, please try troubleshooting step below:

Go to File > Options > Add-Ins > Manage Excel Add-ins > Go > check the Analysis ToolPak box > OK. The icon will appear in the upper right corner of the Data tab.  If you've already done this and it still grey > Uncheck Analysis ToolPak > exit > go back and check the box again.

I'm looking forward to your reply!

    User's image

I am using the desktop App.

I have tried many variations of turning on and off Analysis ToolPak and Analysis ToolPak - VBA with restarts of Excel and reboots in between. I also tried turning off all COM Add-ins.

When I said, 'new login admin account,' I meant a local Windows administrator account. I don't have access to a Microsoft 365 Global Administrator account.

I also did a Windows Defender antivirus scan. Nothing found.

I contacted miss-excel.com and they recommended the following additional steps:

Make sure Excel is not in Manual Calculation mode (Formulas > Calculation Options)

    -Check for disabled services

The Analyze Data pane uses Microsoft's AI services in the cloud. If these are disabled by policy or registry, it will gray out.

    Go to:

    • File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options
    • Make sure these are enabled:

    Enable connected experiences

    Enable optional connected experiences

Allow Office to connect to the Internet

    Restart Excel after adjusting.

This is what worked for me:

I checked calculation mode and found it in automatic. I switched it to manual, back again to automatic, and now Analyze Data works! I suspect some background changes in Windows and or Office 365 may have contributed to the solution.
