    Dear @Sherrie MV,

Thank you for reaching out Q&A Forum.

According to your information, "Grant Permission" message in Word will appears when your account does not have the right permissions to open or edit documents.

    • If the document was shared with you, kindly contact the owner to review the permission.
    • You can also check your access level in the Microsoft 365 Word app: File > Info

    • For Word on web: Click the box next to Share > Open. You can request the owner to grant you edit access.

To better assist, could you please take a screenshot of the error message? It would be very helpful in identifying the issue more precisely.

Ask the sender to send documents without restrictions.

Are the affected documents saved on your hard drive? Or are they being shared with you over OneDrive or SharePoint?
