Using the shortcut in my computers local Onedrive the process confirms that it is me accepting Hello and then it fails with above message. If I view my files on line, it opens proper.
Everything else with OneDrive works proper on my 3 computers, syncing as it should.

Have tried deleting the shortcut. It is automatically created again, with the same error.
Don't even think about suggesting to disconnect onedrive and recreating the off line folders.

PS.
Why do I have to select the only option child tag "For business". Isn't OneDrive supported for indivduals in the future?

    Hi @Sc@nia

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

According to your issue, I understand that you have considered to open the file from OneDrive shortcut and it display Personal Vault error. We are glad to assist you this part

Based on my research, the Personal Vault in OneDrive is a protected area designed to help secure your important files. This enhanced security feature may cause conflicts with OneDrive file shortcuts due to its unique protection methods.

However, I have found a relevant issue that may be helpful in resolving this conflict with  error 0x8004db94:

    • Exit OneDrive
    • Open Command prompt from start menu and paste the following command and hit enter:
    • REG DELETE HKCU\Software\Microsoft\OneDrive\Accounts\Personal /v VaultBackupGuid
    • Its ok if this returns ERROR: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value.
    • Open Credential Manager from start menu
    • Select the Windows Credential tab
    • Find the credential named "Microsoft OneDrive Generic Data - Personal Vault VHD info" and click Remove.
    • Restart OneDrive and try to unlock the Vault Then, when you log-in again you will see this message below.

Remember to click on RESTORE FILES, otherwise you will lost your files from the Personal Vault (or restore the files according to the step highlighted at the beginning of this tutorial.

You can refer via: Onedrive error 0x8004db94 - Microsoft Community

As your concern, the  child tag "For business" this is the default tag that can be selected at current time. In the future, there may be updates to include a wider variety of tags, rather than assigning for business only.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

    Sorry for the delay.
I've been on the road and unable to test it proper. Right now I'm living with the web-access, e.g. downloaded all of it to en encrypted usb-drive.
Will come back to you end of week.

I assumed "exot onedrive" was not disconnect.
Unfortunately it didn't solve my problem.
At the same time I have the issue with multiple entries of OneDrive-Personal in the Explorer desktop. Have followed recommendations there but that problem keeps coming back.

Both issues started with the monthly update in May when I suddenly couldn't access my OneDrive at all. I did a complete reinstall of that account on the pc, e g deleted the account, data and files and then added it again. Didn't help.
