Azure Document Intelligence deployment: Resource name shows "X" despite following naming rules

I'm currently setting up the Azure Document Intelligence (Form Recognizer) platform .
During deployment, I'm encountering issues when trying to create Azure resources — specifically the Storage Account and Form Recognizer instance — where the name fields constantly show “X” or are marked invalid, despite using correct naming formats.
What I've tried:
- Names with only lowercase letters (e.g.,
arabicidp,formreaderai,docintelligence) - Names without special characters or numbers
- Names within the 3–24 character limit
- Ensured names are globally unique
- Tested different Azure regions (UAE North, East US, etc.)
However, the name field still shows an ❌ or , blocking me from completing the deployment.
please help me in that

I understand that you were trying to deploy Azure Document Intelligence (Form Recognizer) along with a Storage Account, but the Azure Portal keeps showing a red (“X”) next to the resource name — even though you’re following the correct naming rules.
Reasons:
1.Azure Enforces Strict Naming Rules
Each Azure resource type has its own naming requirements. Even if you're following general naming guidelines, there may be resource-specific constraints that trip you up.
For example:
· Storage accounts require names to be:
o All lowercase
o 3–24 characters
o Only letters and numbers (no dashes or underscores)
o Globally unique
· Cognitive Services or Document Intelligence resources require:
o 3–24 characters
o Lowercase letters and numbers only
o Must be unique globally (to avoid conflict with others on Azure)
So even if your name like formreaderai seems valid, if it's already taken globally, Azure will still reject it.
2.Portal UI Bugs or Glitches
Occasionally, Azure Portal may show validation errors due to a frontend glitch — especially when you:
· Switch regions too quickly
· Go back and forth between steps
· Use invalid characters and correct them mid-way
These issues are more visual/UI-side, and do not always reflect the real error.
3.Global Name Conflicts
Even if your naming pattern is perfect, the name may already be in use by someone else globally, causing it to be rejected. Azure won’t tell you “this name is taken” — it just shows X.
You need to ensure that your names are not only valid but also globally unique.

· Try appending a timestamp or random string:
4.Avoid Portal Errors
If the Azure Portal continues to show X despite valid input:
· Refresh the portal
· Try Incognito mode
· Or use Azure CLI or ARM templates to deploy resources — these don’t rely on the portal UI and are less prone to such issues.
