How can I make the cursor show up when I click after a period in Word 365?

When I have some text in a Word document and click in the body of text there's sometimes no visible cursor. This happens inconsistently. Sometimes the cursor appears expected. When the cursor is not visible and I start typing the cursor then appears.

Thanks!

    Dear Greco, Andrea

Thank you for reaching out with your question in the Q&A forum.

Based on the information you've provided, I understand you're experiencing an issue where the cursor sometimes doesn't appear when clicking into a Word document, although it behaves as expected at other times. This intermittent behavior can be frustrating.

You can try the following steps to troubleshoot:

    1. Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Mouse → Additional mouse settings

    1. In the Mouse Properties window, select the Pointer Options tab
    2. Uncheck "Hide pointer while typing"
    3. Click OK to apply the changes

Please give this a try and let me know if the issue persists. I'm here and happy to assist further if needed!

As far as I know, this can only be controlled in the Mouse properties in Windows Settings.

However, Windows has a bad habit of hiding user interface elements that are not "actively" used, such as scrollbars and indeed also the insertion point.
