Dear Patience Anderson
Thank you for posting your question in the Q&A forum.
Based on the information you've shared, I understand you're trying to sort files named with numbers in OneDrive. However, according to my research, files in shared folders are typically sorted alphabetically rather than numerically, for example, 1.0
, 10.0
, 2.0
, 5.0
, 7.0
, which may appear out of order from a numerical perspective.
This behavior is by design in OneDrive and other Microsoft services, where sorting by name follows strict alphanumeric rules.
To achieve the desired order, I recommend renaming your files using leading zeros. For example:
- Instead of using names such as File1, File2, ... File10, File11, ..., File20, File21, ..., use (for example) File0001, File0002, File0010, File0011, ... File0020, File0021, ...
This naming convention ensures that files are sorted in the correct numerical sequence.
I understand this may be frustrating, and I truly appreciate your understanding. That said, I highly encourage you to share your suggestion through Microsoft’s official feedback channel so it can be properly reviewed by the product team.
Thanks again for helping us improve the experience for everyone!
