Product suggestions for the Surface / Pro / any portable Surface
First off the Surface Pro is a great product. I have had one for a couple of years and it is by far the best portable device I have ever used and I have not yet seen anything close out there, let alone better. I mainly use it (and I used its predecessors the same way) for communication, documentation and writing programs rather than for media or games, but I do watch movies and play games on it from time to time. The tablet / laptop, the stand, and the type cover work really well.
I presume incremental improvements to the Surface processor (already good), ports (already good), pen (good but not perfect yet), storage (already good), screen (amazing) and battery life (OK or good) are already planned so I won't say anything about those.
What about the option for an external 2nd (+3rd) screen for the Surface product line ? Just take the screen of the Surface Pro, remove all the compute and comms equipment (except for the comms necessary for wireless and wired screen connectivity) and add more battery.
My current mobile setup is Surface Pro + Surface Keyboard + a small MS BT optical mouse (+ a type cover for situations where the keyboard isn't suitable). An additional Surface-sized Surface-quality screen is a no-brainer. To judge from the current state of the market, I would guess there is plenty of opportunity for owners of non-surface laptop equipment to buy a Surface-quality portable external screen as well. There is just no decent equipment out there that is worth buying right now.
And how about an official suggestions box for the Surface Product line similar to those available for Microsoft's software products (uservoice) ?
