My microsoft surface book 2 is making a bloop noise

My Microsoft Surface book 2 starting to make faint 'bloop' noise, every 10 seconds, it never did that before.

I did install new software today. The sound comes from the screen, not from the base. It even makes the sound when powering up- or down. It does not matter it you disconnect the screen from the base or what program's you run. It just... "bloops"

How can I make my laptop stop making this 'bloop' sound? It's driving me nuts! Whats wrong with my very expensive laptop?

    Hi, Booij!

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your concerns. We are sorry to learn you hear a sound coming from your Surface Book 2's screen after installing a software. Thanks for taking the time to let us know about this. If I may ask, were you able to try to uninstall the software to see if it has something to do with it? If not, kindly do so.

In the meantime, please ensure the following steps have been performed on the device.

    ·         Check for Windows Update:

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates

Please restart your device to apply the updates.

    ·         Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and make sure to complete the tasks.

    ·         Force shutdown the device and restart.

    1. Press and hold the power button until the screen turns off (about 10 seconds), then release the power button.
    2. Press and release the power button to turn your Surface back on. You should see the Microsoft logo.

If that doesn't work, here's how to make sure your Surface turns off completely:

Press and hold down the power button until your Surface restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.

We hope this helps you out. Otherwise, don't hesitate to respond to this thread if there’s anything else that needs to be addressed.

    Kind regards,

    Janette_Z

    Hi Janette,

I run diagnostic toolkit and did a force shutdown. But even while scanning and repairing disk, or when the laptop is booting up I hear the 'bloop' sound. If I have to describe it, it's like a drop of water falling in a glass of water but very faint.

It started yesterday. Before that, it did not do this. I have not installed any software this week. It, however, did make a lot of fan noise yesterday morning while I was working (I was using Adobe design software) but I did no heavy lifting yet. Because of work, I could not restart immediately. After 30 minutes I restarted. After the restart, it still made a lot of fan noise. I guess the processor was still too hot, but within 30 minutes the fan slowed down, and noise levels were acceptable again. It was around that time I heard the 'bloop' noise for the first time.

The laptop is working fine, and the diagnostic did not find anything. But the bloop sound is very annoying.

Based on your description it sounds like you are experiencing a hardware failure. You should back up your files and start thinking about exchanging your Surface. Hopefully you are still under warranty.

I am having the same issue. I also have a Surface Book 2 and haven't had this problem until today. I tried restarting my device and also running the Sound Troubleshooter, which included reinstalling the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver. I also closed any programs that I thought could be causing the sound.
