    Thank you for reaching out Surface Community. May I know if you have tested the pen to two or more writing/drawing applications? This is to isolate the issue if it's only happening to a specific app. If this is happening to a specific app, try to uninstall and reinstall the app, restart the device and test. If it is happening in all apps, I would suggest that you open Surface App, click pen icon on the left side then draw something to test the pen pressure. You may also click the Reset button to see if there is a difference. If the issue persist run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit. It is a self-healing tool which looks for potential issues and fixes them, as well as ensures your device is completely up to date. Try to change the battery as well.

    Thank you for responding.

    This problem has been happening since switching to Office365.  I have not experienced it before.  (I've penned in OneNote as far back as 2004 on an HP Tablet.)  I followed all of the instructions that you provided.  None of them has fixed the issue, either in OneNote or other apps.

    And, the issue is consistently intermittent -- sometimes silky, then scratchy and almost unreadable.

    I almost want to connect the issue to the internet backup, but did try disconnecting to no avail.  

    I have picked up online chatter that this is an identified issue that has others frustrated.  Microsoft should want to fix this for the many who opt for these products because of the pen.
