Surface pro 4 power cord smoking!

I purchased my Surface Pro 4 in Dec. 2016. Yesterday, the power cord (where the wires connect with the plug that goes into the charger) began arching and smoking. I know this model is not included in the recall but I wanted to let someone know this happened and see if any others had this issue.

I connected a different power cord to my charger box and everything is working fine - it appears that the cord was the issue.

There was tech support spam/scam posted to this thread, please do not reply.

The phone number does not belong to Microsoft and the post has been removed.

This is not a scam. I am sitting here with a partially singed power cord and want to make others aware of what happened. Where can I report this?

Then above reply was in reference to a reply from someone other than me and we deleted that bad reply. The message in red was a warning not to call a specific phone number that was posted by a scammer. Again, that post was removed, but you MAY have received it in email. We wanted to make sure you did not call that phone number.

With respect to the actual issue, there have not been reports like yours that I recall, and the one or two instances I have seen would seem to be isolated. If there was a trend for this, we would have seen a lot of reports here and elsewhere. Sometimes these adapter cords are weakened and even shorted out when you wrap the cords. Sorry you had this issue. Your post is here so if anyone wants to "me too", they certainly can respond.
