Significant delay in monitor startup through Surface Dock 2

Every time I start my computer or wake it from sleep, there's a 3-5 minute delay before my monitor displays a picture. During that time, the computer recognizes the presence of the monitor and names it correctly in display settings, and I can move my mouse off screen like I'd expect to with dual monitors, but the monitor shows no signal on the HDMI port. Several minutes later, however, it suddenly turns on. Does anyone know how I can avoid that delay?

I'm running a Surface Pro 7, and the monitor is an ASUS VN247H connected through a Surface Dock 2. The monitor starts instantaneously when connected directly to my computer's USB-C port.

    Hi DavidCrawford9,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community.

Have you updated the firmware version of your Surface Dock 2? Have you tried clearing the display cache of your Surface device and uninstalling/reinstalling the monitor driver that appears in Device Manager?

Please follow Solution # 5 from this link>>https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4023496/surface-troubleshoot-connecting-to-a-second-screen to clear the display cache of your Surface device. Once done, kindly restart your Surface and kindly check this link for surface dock 2's firmware update>> https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4023478/surface-update-your-surface-dock.

    Kind Regards,

    Crest

    Hi Crest,

Thank you for the response. I followed both of those solutions to the letter, but I am still having the same issue. Do you have any other ideas as to how I could figure out the problem?

    Thanks,

    David
