Surface Charger Failures

Hello - I see there have been many problems with the Surface chargers.  Mine was replaced once under warranty.  The warranty has now expired and the replacement charger has, from the beginning, had the same problems.  Apparently this has been an on-going problem.  Will Microsoft fix the manufacturing problem with these chargers and provide replacements.  As others have stated, if you unplug the portion of the plug that goes into the charger and plug it back in and jiggle it many times, you can get it to finally come back on and then charge.  This is an on-going problem and I wish Microsoft would remedy it.

    Hi CheriLIR,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community.  We're sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Jiggling the cord to get it to work, for me it seems annoying and to tell you honestly, I don't have any idea if the Surface Pro 4 chargers will still be reproduced or what not. Considering that the Surface Pro 3 has been discontinued and to based it on how I see it,  sooner or later the Surface Pro 4 devices will be then discontinued, too and no reproduction will be done for it's accessories including the charger.

However, those chargers we have for Surface Pro 5 6 and 7, that works with Surface Pro 4 so if you would like to purchase a new charger with higher PSU watts, then that's totally fine. On the other hand, if you would like to get a replacement exemption for the PSU of your Surface device, I highly recommend to contact support to check if this can be honored.

If this answers your question, feel free to mark this post as  an answer. Otherwise, don't hesitate to respond to this thread if there's anything else that I can assist.

    Kind Regards,

    Crest_Z

Microsoft actually sold the higher wattage 65 Watt charger as the official
replacement for the SP3 when the SP3 first launched. Then Microsoft sold a 44
(as I recall) charger for a universal replacement. Then they returned to selling
the 65W charger as the universal Pro3-7 charger.
Microsoft hasn't even updated the text on
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/microsoft-surface-65w-power-supply/90z4l7rp2zvs?cid=msft_web_collection&activetab=pivot:overviewtab
as it still only says Power Supply made exclusively for Surface Book, SurfaceLaptop, Surface Pro, Surface Pro 4, and Surface Pro 3
